Join us for a holiday tradition with a contemporary twist! Kinetics Dance Theatre’s Student Companies present The Cracked Nut on Friday, December 13th at 7pm and Saturday, December 14th at 3pm and 7pm. The Cracked Nut presents a familiar tale with a few surprises along the way. The company dancers tell the classic story of Clara and her journey to the magical Land of Sweets through ballet, modern and contemporary choreography. This hour-long performance is great for families with young children, both boys and girls.
The Cracked Nut begins with Clara attending a ballet class and a holiday party with all of her friends at her dance studio. Choreographer, Liz Quinones, showcases a unique take on the traditional doll scene by including dynamic action figures competing for the spotlight. After the party, Clara waits patiently for her parents to pick her up before she drifts to sleep. Her dreams transport her through dark corners with mischievous mice. Clara gets caught in a powerful blizzard before the Snow Queen calms the storm and guides Clara into the Land of Sweets. Choreographer, Alex J. Krebs, has restructured Act II by including performances by classic holiday treats, preceding the presentation of the Sugar Plum Fairies. Join us in an evening filled with adventure, mystery, and delight! The role of Clara will be performed by Sophia Lippe, age 12.
