Background. Since 1994 the Black Men of Labor, have inspired to “Keeping New Orleans Traditional Jazz Music Alive and On the Streets” where it began. With their syncopated dancing, vibrant colors, and thousands of participatory second liners through the streets of Historic Treme to New Orleans Traditional Jazz Music. This has become known as a must attend fall event for local family, friends, visitors, and conventioneers both locally, nationally, and globally closing out a weeklong event of activities in October which is now known as Music month in New Orleans.

Last year we celebrated the Golden Age of Jazz honoring the Incomparable Germaine Bazzle, Charlie Gabriel, the late Peter "Chuck" Badie, the late Edward "Kidd" Jordan, Lawrence Cotton, Daniel Farrow, Roger Dickerson, Al "Carnival Time" Johnson, Roger Lewis, Thais Clark, Benny Jones, and Lester Caliste!

This year the Black Men of Labor are extremely thrilled and excited to celebrate their XXIX Noir Experience Jazz Legacy Honors Gala.  An event that promises to be a night of elegance, celebration, and community spirit.  This year's gala will bring together individuals from all walks of life to enjoy an evening filled with delightful entertainment, exquisite dining, and the chance to connect with old friends and make new ones.  As we gather to celebrate our achievements, support our cause, and Honor Seven unique local talents; Tradtional Jazz Trumpeter Greg Stafford, Jazz Master Percussionist Herlin Riley, the Soulful voice of Irma Thomas Jackson, Jazz Vocalist Sharon Martin, Treme' own Drummer Shannon Powell, Crooner Phillip Manuel, and Bagpipes muscian James Rivers.
